How it all started...
Two Country Churches in what was known as Hurricane and Rockville joined together and moved to Lancaster in 1883. It was known as the The First German Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. The church has come a long way since those days but is still located on the same location on the corner of Jefferson and Oak streets since that time. The church has seen much change from then to now and we continue to look forward to what God is doing in us.
Expanding the vision...
We seek to find where God is at work and join God on the front lines. We serve the local food pantry, local missions, and family promise. In addition, the church travels to various places in the midwest to make homes warmer, safer, and dryer for those unable to do so for themselves.
Where we are headed...
Congregations are vehicles of grace, through which God changes the human heart and reaches a hurting world. Our church is a front line agent for God’s gathered and scattered ministry. Drawn by the Spirit to gather each week for worship, care, and fellowship, members are then sent out to discover where God is at work outside the church and to make God’s love real in the places they live and work and play. The church fulfills its mission at that edge, where those who belong to the community of faith engage and intertwine their lives with those outside of the community. Our congregation does more than wait for them to come to us; we go out and engage them.
